Children

Storytelling is the oldest method of teaching. Long before they were written down, our Bible stories were first shared around the campfires and in the tents of our ancestors. But sharing the biblical story doesn’t need to take place around a table or in any other static environment. 

Sunday School classes begin at 9:45 am and include activities that allow experiences through hearing, talking, doing, sharing, questioning, and deciding.

The Angel Choir is children ages 3 yrs. to 5 year old Kindergarten. They meet on Sunday mornings prior to Sunday School lessons. The music is lesson-related and songs to present in worship services.

Son Shine Praise Kids - Grades 1-6 meet on Sunday evenings at 5:45 pm. The Praise Kids sing special music for worship services. Prepares and presents Christmas and Spring musicals while learning basic music fundamentals.

Our Confirmation Class includes sixth graders who are meeting with during the Sunday School hour each week in the Spring to study the scriptures, as well as our Wesleyan/United Methodist heritage and doctrine. Confirmation also includes an individual relationship/activities with a lay mentor, monthly group activities for mission and fun/fellowship, and a retreat the weekend before the Confirmation Service, which will take place at 8:30 am on Palm Sunday. During the retreat each confirmand will have an opportunity to make or confirm decisions about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and full membership in Brandon First United Methodist Church.

Vacation Bible School is a wonderful week at Brandon First! The children stay busy learning Bible verses/stories, songs, crafts, and more. The teachers and leaders are also blessed each year. The children raise $ for missions and have a closing celebration each year. 2010 Vacation Bible School, Galactic Blast is scheduled for June 27-July 1. See Shea Carter to volunteer now!

Thursday Adventures is a summer leisure ministry for 3 year olds through 6th grade. This ministry is for children whose parents are members or attend Brandon First and their friends plus grandchildren of our church family. A parent, grandparent or guardian must participate and possibly drive for at least one of the regular adventures. With the exception of Tweens who take an some responsibility in leading the younger children.
