Children

Children’s Ministry at Brandon First United Methodist Church strives to provide children and their families with a strong Christian foundation that is based on Luke 2:52 (And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.). Our hope is through our time with the children they will grow, as Jesus did, in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

Brandon First United Methodist Church offers a well-rounded Christian education program to disciple our children in a way that will enable them to have a meaningful relationship with Christ. Before children leave the 4th grade, we want them to understand 3 basic truths:

How we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ:

Sunday School – The purpose of Sunday School is to familiarize our children with God’s message in the Bible Sunday School meets at 9:45 am.

The Angel Choir (for children ages 3 years to 5-year-old kindergarten) meets on Sunday mornings prior to Sunday School lessons. The music is lesson-related and they learn songs to present in worship services.

Praise Kids (Grades 1st through 6th) meet on Sunday evenings at 5:45 p.m. The Praise Kids sing special music for worship services. The Choir also prepares and presents Christmas and spring musicals while learning basic music fundamentals.

Wednesday Nights at 6:00pm, we offer a Bible study (3 year olds thru Kindergarten) and Bible study (1st thru 4th Grades)

Summer Camps are offered through Camp Wesley Pines in Gallman, MS, and Camp Lake Stephen’s, Oxford, MS. These include mini-camps and week-long camps for all ages.

Projects with a Purpose is our summer activity events that are held on certain Thursdays. Projects with a Purpose always have a mission theme with lots of fun!!!

Vacation Bible School is offered during the summer and open to children (3 years old who have completed 3 year preschool-6th grade).

Tweens

We offer a youth group style setting that is adapted to meet 5th and 6th graders at their level of understanding. Our goal for each Tween is for them to have a grasp on who Christ is, what he did and how that should affect our daily lives.

We believe that this is a critical age for our students and that they need to have a firm grasp on the Bible so that when the student faces all the things life will throw at them, they will be able to react and respond in a way pleasing to God.

Sunday School, 9:45 am – Structured, hands-on learning that makes the Bible come alive.

Jesus Plus, Sundays, 4:30 pm – Students meet together for a time of devotion and mission work that is usually led by a tween.

Confirmation Class (6th Grade) is offered in the Spring semester during the Sunday School hour for study of scripture, as well as our Wesleyan/United Methodist heritage and doctrine. Confirmation also includes a Mentor relationship and group activities for mission and spiritual growth.

Summer Camps are offered through Camp Wesley Pines in Gallman, MS, and Camp Lake Stephen’s, Oxford, MS. These include mini-camps and week-long camps for all ages.

Projects with a Purpose is our summer activity events that are held on certain Thursdays. Projects with a Purpose always have a mission theme with lots of fun!

Vacation Bible School is offered during the summer and open to children (3 years old who have completed 3 year preschool-6th grade).

Fellowship Dinners and other various programming such as summer camps, lock-ins, monthly birthday cards to congregation and college student secret pal.
